Hi friends! This week’s newsletter was going to be Part 2 of my road to getting published, but I’m pushing it back to next week. We’re interrupting our scheduled programming because finally I can share with you…
THE SLOWEST BURN TOUR!
***
SAN FRANCISCO
Saturday October 5, 3pm at Omnivore Books (co-hosted by The Ruby), free to attend
with Kate Leahy
What a delight, to bring together two of my favorite places in San Francisco for The Slowest Burn’s home stand! Omnivore is THE place to look for amazing food books (I dare you to shop there and not come out with the cookbook you didn’t know you needed), and The Ruby has been an amazing home for femme and non-binary creatives since 2017. I wouldn’t have gotten to where I am now without my years as a Ruby.
My conversation partner and fellow Ruby Kate has written and co-written a dozen cookbooks across a wide range of cuisines. She had a hand in the books for Bay institutions A16 and Burma Superstar, worked with Ayesha Curry on her 2016 cookbook The Seasoned Life, and also wrote the beautiful and useful Wine Style. She’s probably forgotten more about the process of making a cookbook than I’ve ever known, and she writes fiction too! This is going to be a deep and wide ranging conversation, and I’m already preparing.
VENTURA
Wednesday October 9, 5:30pm at Smitten Bookstore, ticketed with book included
with Danica Nava
Danica is the smart, funny, charming author of the brand-new Native romantic comedy The Truth According to Ember, and a fellow 2024 debut. Publishing is a bizarrely opaque process, and being part of the 2024 Debuts Slack channel along with Danica has done a lot to save my sanity (and save me from badgering my editor with questions). Writing novels fundamentally means spending a lot of time alone for long stretches of time, and knowing there were other romance writers to talk to out there in the ether made life a lot easier when I was working on The Slowest Burn edits. I can’t wait to talk about our books together.
LOS ANGELES
Thursday October 10, 7pm at The Ripped Bodice, ticketed with book included
with Elissa Sussman
Elissa writes incredibly witty, incisive celebrity romance (Funny You Should Ask, Once More with Feeling) that’s equal parts two complex people falling in love AND deep thoughts on what getting, keeping, and losing fame will do to a person. She’s also the master of multiple timelines, as if writing one linear story isn’t hard enough. This is going to be a great talk about craft and the genre at the OG romance bookstore!
BROOKLYN
Tuesday October 15, 7pm at The Ripped Bodice, ticketed with book included
with Sarah MacLean
I will do my absolute best not to spend forty-five minutes fangirling at the best historical romance author working today, but I make no promises! Sarah’s work as both a writer and as an advocate for the romance genre is one of the big reasons I even tried to write romance in the first place. If you need more sexy swashbuckling feminist joy in your life, you can’t go wrong with her books.

One last request - please forward this email to your friends, your family, your co-workers, your gym training buddies, anyone who might be interested. Anything you can do to get the word out would be hugely appreciated!!!
UK friends - I’m hoping I’ll get to do some events in the country where I live, but for now things are up in the air. But if you think your local indie bookstore should host me, tell them to get in touch with me through my website or on Instagram at @sarahchamberlainauthor.
This is all so exciting, Sarah!
I can't believe FL isn't on this list 😭
